Halfway Done

This week begins my second week of school for this semester. It’s crazy to think that I am over halfway done with my graduate program and I will be graduating in May!

My classes are going to be a lot of work this year; even more so than I thought they would be. Even though it’s a lot of work, I do love what I am studying, and that always makes it easier. Additionally, I am working on an internship that has opened a whole new realm of possibilities for me. I’ll post more on that another time, but it’s exciting to see all of the different opportunities I have after graduation.

With that, I want to share a few of my goals for this year:

  1. Read for every single class – I know this seems simple, but it was something I slacked on sometimes last year, and I don’t want to do it again.
  2. Take on different opportunities – this is something that I really want to embrace this year because it is the last time I will be a student without a full-time job. I want to learn as much as possible both inside and outside of the classroom.
  3. Take time to connect with the students I work with – I work with hundreds of students in my halls, in the groups I advise, and at my internship. I really want to take the time to get to know them all on a personal level, as much as I possibly can. I think in Student Affairs it can be easy to get caught up in the work and forget that we are there for the students, so I want to focus on that.
  4. Get a job that I love – job search for me has already begun! I am working on revising my resume and creating a cover letter already. In the end, I want to be closer to home in Wisconsin and I want to be doing something I love!

I’ll make sure to keep everyone updated on how these goals are coming along! I hope everyone has had a good start to the school year!
